Personal Training in South Keys Ottawa
Looking for personal training in South Keys? Human 2.0 offers evidence-based training designed to build strength, improve movement quality, and support long-term health—whether you're returning to activity after an injury, training for competition, or simply want to move better in daily life.
Our 6,500+ sq ft facility houses personal training alongside physiotherapy, massage therapy, and orthopedic care, so your trainer and your therapist can coordinate when that's useful.
How We Train
Orthopedic Surgeon-Led Standards
Human 2.0 is owned and operated by Dr. Chris Raynor, FRCSC, a sports medicine orthopedic surgeon. In practice that means:
-
Training standards and programming principles set with input from a practising orthopedic surgeon
-
Programs adapted for clients with a history of injury or surgery, within what a trainer's scope allows
-
Direct coordination with the on-site physiotherapy team when rehabilitation is part of the picture
-
A clear boundary: training builds strength and capacity; assessment and rehabilitation of an injury are done by regulated health professionals, not trainers
Functional Movement Focus
We don't train muscles in isolation—we train movement patterns that translate to real life:
-
Squatting, hinging, pushing, pulling, carrying
-
Rotational strength and stability
-
Balance and coordination
-
Mobility and flexibility
-
Movement quality before intensity
Training Under One Roof With Health Services
Human 2.0 houses training alongside regulated health services:
-
Personal trainers can communicate with physiotherapists and massage therapists, with your consent
-
Structured handover when you finish rehabilitation and are ready to train again
-
One location for training, therapy and consultation
-
Support for clients training before or after orthopedic surgery, within what their surgeon has cleared

Personal training is not a regulated health profession in Ontario. Trainers coach exercise; they don't diagnose or treat injuries. If something needs assessment, we'll point you to the physiotherapy or medical side of the clinic.
Training Philosophy: Hard Work, Smart Programming
We Believe In:
-
Progressive overload: Gradually increasing demands to drive adaptation
-
Movement quality: Doing exercises correctly before adding load
-
Individual variation: What works for one person may not work for another
-
Consistency: Showing up regularly matters more than perfect workouts
-
Hard work: Results require effort, but effort should be intelligent
-
Long-term thinking: Building sustainable habits, not quick fixes
We Don't Believe In:
-
One-size-fits-all programs
-
Extreme diets or unsustainable approaches
-
Training through pain (discomfort is okay, pain is not)
-
Shortcuts or gimmicks
-
Ignoring limitations or injuries

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be in shape to start personal training? No. We work with clients at all fitness levels, and your program is designed for your current abilities and progresses from there.
How often should I train? Most clients train 2-4 times per week. We'll recommend a frequency based on your goals, schedule, and recovery capacity.
Can I train if I have an injury? Often, yes, but an active or undiagnosed injury should be assessed first by a physiotherapist or physician. Once you have that guidance, your trainer can work with it and coordinate with your therapist here.
What if I've never lifted weights before? That's fine. You'll learn fundamental movement patterns and technique before progressing to more complex exercises.
Do you provide nutrition guidance? We're not registered dietitians. We provide general nutrition education and can refer you to a qualified professional for detailed meal planning.
Can I use the gym outside of training sessions? Program Design clients have access during open hours. Personal training clients can discuss adding open gym access.
How long until I see results? It depends on your starting point, consistency, sleep and nutrition, so we don't promise a timeline. Strength and how you feel usually shift before appearance does. We track measurable markers so you can see actual progress rather than guessing.
